Airfare costs can be saved using non-refundable tickets, and the majority of our corporate accounts purchase these tickets. The savings are usually 60 percent or more versus refundable tickets. One thing that should be conveyed to the client is that if non-refundable tickets are not cancelled prior to departure, most airlines have the policy that the ticket has no value. The majority of airlines charge a fee to change travel dates on non-refundable tickets, anywhere from $100.00 to $250.00. However, even with these fees, the savings far outweigh the cost of a fully refundable ticket. We have a system that tracks unused tickets so that they can be used for future travel. The validity of most airline tickets is one year from the date of issue. Related article: How companies can trim $29.8B in airfare expense (Travel Market Report) |
